Our Occupational Therapists can complete assessments for assistive technology, aids and equipment. In the NDIS scheme, these come under the umbrella term ‘Assistive Technology’.
Our sessions include assessment of client function and needs, liaising with providers and exploring equipment options, trials and reports to the appropriate funding body.
Assistive technology we support can include:
- In-home aids (e.g. adapted cutlery, aids for daily living, cooking, etc)
- Wheelchair assessment and prescription, including complex seating needs
- Emotional and Sensory regulation aids
- Bedding and mattresses
- Strollers, seating, shower chairs
- Car seats and vehicle modifications
- 24 hour positioning equipment (to help be more comfortable day and night; provide optimal positioning; relieve pressure/prevent pain/muscle shortening)
- Access options for speech devices/technology (in partnership with your speech therapist)
- Behaviour support equipment, e.g. strollers, car harnesses (in partnership with Behaviour Support Practitioner and Plans)
